Congratulations to Anya Holmes-Ellerker, who earned her shodan, black belt, during the JKS England course in Nottingham today.
It was a confident and impressive performance in front of JKS England Chief Instructor Alan Campbell Sensei, 7th dan. Anya has had an up-and-down year, struggling to recover from an injury that put her out of training for nearly 3 months. Despite this set back, and the challenges this has posed getting back to form, Anya has had a remarkably successful year with the highlight being crowned JKS England national champion for kata. Earning her black belt this weekend is a great way to sign-off 2019. I am sure this young girl has much more to achieve in the world of karate over the coming years. Congratulations!
